By Wile E Coyote, SG (Super Genius)
There are so many delicious ways to enjoy roadrunner. There is roadrunner kabob, roast roadrunner, roadrunner almandine, braised roadrunner, and of course the inimitable roadrunner fricassee.
Catching a fresh roadrunner can be problematic for the novice. Fortunately there are any number of Acme products available to assist you with their capture and their (he he he) killing. What you need to be successful is a plan…a strategic plan to be more precise. Here’s how you get started
5 Redesigned Acme Products That Will Kill Roadrunners
Wile E. Coyote’s Mission Statement
Begin with an image of your future and articulate it in words. An amateur coyote might state their Mission as ‘To Catch, Kill and Cook Roadrunner’. But a Wile E. Coyote understands the importance of building inspiration into the Mission Statement. My mission is ‘A lifetime banquet of roadrunner. Fresh caught, fresh killed and always cooked with caring’. Now doesn’t that sound like something that would make you get back up on your feet after being clobbered with a falling anvil?

Vision: Roadrunner a la Wile E. Coyote
Next one creates a Vision Goals…a way of seeing your Mission in more realistic, measurable terms. Typically Vision Goals look out 3 or 5 years into the future, but for the purposes of this demonstration, we’re going to look out four days to this Tuesday at 5pm. Our Vision Goal is one 1-½ lb. roadrunner on a steaming bed of lemon risotto surrounded by glazed carrots and prickly pear cactus compote.

The SWOT: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats
With our Mission and Vision so clearly and tantalizingly described, building out a plan to catch our little speedy friend seems almost diabolically enjoyable. In fact, I’m snickering at my own genius right now. All’s left to do is to plot out our SWOT, a look at one Wile E. Coyote’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. In this case, my strengths are that I am a super genius; there’s no need to list any weaknesses, because I have none; the opportunity is the 5 o’clock locomotive that will be barreling down these railroad tracks this Tuesday; and my threat is that my shipment of ACME TNT might not make it here in time.
Strategic Goals and the Plan
And lastly and most enjoyable are my strategic goals and plan. Goals are milestones of accomplishments important on your journey to your Vision goals and the plan is how to move from one goal to the next. In my case, the plan is too obvious with anyone of an IQ of 150 or higher. At precisely 4: 57pm, place one bowl of Acme Roadrunner Bird Seed on a scale. Connect one side of the scale to a plunger that’s attached to the Acme TNT. As the Roadrunner eats the food, the bowl rises, the plunger falls, exploding the tracks, derailing the train, and crushing the roadrunner where he stands. Oh I tell you…I am brilliant!
Wile E. never caught the Roadrunner but it wasn’t because he planned; it was because he planned poorly. As the Chuck Jones notes demonstrate, the more time we spend ‘seeing’ the future, the more equipped we are to make smarter decisions about the present. Bring your entire team in on the process. With more eyes on the blue prints, someone might recognize that at the very least, we need to stop using the Acme Supply Company. Read more at bash halow’s blog or his bio page
