Brenda Tassava is a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager, and a Certified Veterinary Journalist. She began her career in the veterinary profession in 1997 at a large companion animal and exotic practice in Dublin, Ohio. In 2003, she moved to Indianapolis to become Hospital Administrator to a large AAHA-accredited companion animal practice.
Over several years, Brenda worked closely with her practice owner in Indianapolis to grow the practice from a single location to a multi-location, diverse organization of more than 60 employees. In her role, she fostered an award-winning environment of open team communication, employee recognition, growth and development, and positive work-life balance for the entire team.
Based as a veterinary practice consultant in Indianapolis and New Orleans, Brenda is a member of the Veterinary Hospital Managers’ Association (VHMA), where she is the Immediate Past Chair of the CVPM Board of Directors. She is one of the co-founders of the Veterinary Management Association of Indiana (VMAI), where she currently serves as an officer and Board Member. Brenda is also a member of VetPartners and the American Society of Veterinary Journalists.
Brenda has a deep interest in the Owner-Manager Team concept and in training strong leadership teams that work towards fulfilling the Practice Owner’s vision and goals. One of her other passions is social media and technology, and how to best utilize these in veterinary practice to make lasting connections with clients. She frequently consults, writes, and speaks on these topics, as well as other areas of veterinary practice. Brenda is the author of the book, “Social Media for Veterinary Professionals”, which was published in 2011.
Brenda is currently enrolled in school at NYU-SCPS where she is studying digital publishing. With her roots in Fine Art (Drawing and Painting, The Ohio State University), and her fascination with technology, she loves when she is able to blend her artistic talents into her work at HTC, usually through website development, logo design, and multi-media publications. She retreats to her art studio frequently, where as an encaustic artist she literally paints with a torch and pigmented beeswax.
